Never Say Die
ANM Publishers has recently printed the biography of a key native missionary leader from Myanmar (Burma): David Yone Mo. David was an exceptional man. From a criminal past of drugs, violence, and gang involvement God transformed David into a mighty warrior for the Gospel. His ministry involved drug rehabilitation, jungle crusades, leadership training, outreach to lepers, orphans’ and children’s ministries, and help for HIV-AIDS patients. His story is truly one of miracles and supernatural wonders—somewhat of a 29th chapter to the book of Acts. “Never Say Die” is not only the title of this book it was also the motto of the ministry that David founded, Myanmar Young Crusaders. It expressed both his experience of being delivered (literally) from his death bed to the ongoing faith, courage and determination he exhibited in his service for God. Truly this is one of the most remarkable stories of God’s grace and miraculous power in modern times. Consider this excerpt from Never Say Die: “Back in those days, though, he felt he could conquer the world. But now, with death just a few days away, he knew he desperately needed help. All you have to do is to believe. The words rang clear as a bell in his heart. Believe that Jesus died on the cross to save you from what you deserve: hell. It all rushed back to him now, his mother’s mini-sermons and Kathy’s tearful pleadings. But would God really forgive him and accept him? “If Jesus could guarantee a spot in paradise for that criminal, then he can also save me. David knew he didn’t have a lot of time to make things right with God. He prayed softly, Jesus, I’m sorry. I’ve made a terrible mess of my life. Please forgive me. Please remember me when you come into your kingdom. “Right at that moment on August 5, 1974, David felt a tremendous peace flood his heart and strange power surge through his body. He knew instantly that Jesus Christ had answered his prayer! Immediately he jumped off his bed and exclaimed, ‘Praise the Lord!’ The other patients in the room looked at him oddly, as if he were mentally ill. “… Within a week, David was discharged from the hospital, his recovery having been deemed a medical miracle. Elizabeth brought her son home, where he saw a wooden coffin lying in the corner. Suddenly alarmed at the thought that one of his brothers must have died while he was in the hospital, David blurted out, ‘Whose coffin is that?’ “Elizabeth answered with tears in her eyes, ‘It’s yours! The doctor told me that you had less than a week to live, so I had already made all your funeral arrangements. But I certainly don’t mind cancelling them!’ “Looking at his own coffin, and then at his mother and Kathy, David replied, ‘The Lord has done something wonderful, and I need to tell others about it!’ Once you start reading this engaging book, you won’t be able to put it down until the inspiring and moving end.
