Natural Disasters in the Philippines, Indonesia
You Can Give Towards Relief Efforts

Written by Joel Maas, A/V Coordinator

Advancing Native Missions has received several reports from both the Philippines as well as Indonesia regarding the natural disasters that have hit in those countries this past week, and will be acting as a conduit to channel donated funds through our partner ministries to victims of the typhoon and earthquake.

Here is an edited portion of an email we received after the flooding hit several provinces in the Philippines:

“Death and destruction are all around us because of the recent typhoon and flood…  Many people are on the rooftop and crying and asking for help.  Many of them were caught unprepared to this sudden calamity…  Our outreaches at the Aeta villages are praying for help.  Many of them are hungry and sick.  We have been from Mabato and Cawag and did feeding and medical missions.  We are praying to go to Itanglew and Botolan to help.  Please pray for the medicines and foods that we need.  Our son…, his mom, and some of our staff spearheaded the medical and feeding missions for the Aetas.  We need your prayers and support now more than ever.  Please share the needs to all our brethren there within your reach.  Thank you very much.  God be gracious and merciful to us and our suffering people!”

We also have received word from a partner ministry in Indonesia:

“…the victims of the earthquake that hit West Sumatera were possibly thousands… so far most of our missionaries were safe by the grace of the Lord.”

Although Advancing Native Missions is not a relief agency, because we have partners around the world we often have local ministries ‘on the ground’ in areas where disasters like this strike.  Because of their familiarity with the local population, their knowledge of the local economy, and their ability to gather first-hand knowledge of what is happening and what the actual needs are, they are in a position to channel funds and, on our behalf, provide relief in the name of Christ to those hurting and lost after a disaster.

Please pray and consider whether you could donate towards the relief efforts in these hard-hit areas.
